    Adolescent students with extensive interruptions to their education, priory to their arrival in Australia are the focus of this book. Teaching these students can be a challenging task for post primary teachers, many of whom are not trained to teach early/intermediate literacy skills. The purpose of this book is to assist all teachers, specifically English as a Second Language but also subject teacher in teaching this small but significant group of students. Taken together the articles which comprise this book highlight how a sensitive and appropriate educational environment can be developed to help these students achieve in an Australian school setting.
