English grammatical structure is an inventory of sentence patterns, grammatical structures and lexical items which could be used as a guide in the planning of curricula, textbooks and readers for the teaching of English as a foreign language. The book is divided into six stages, with a summary at the end of each. In addition, eight appendixes provide material suitable for testing the student’s command of English after the items in the six stages have been taught. These cover irregular verbs, verbs patterns, phrasal verbs, adverbs, and prepositional phrases associated with frequently-used verbs and adjectives. The book has been designed not only for the textbook writer but also for the teacher of English who wishes to produce his own material to suit the particular needs of his students.
