It is a communicatively-based text to be used in teaching spoken English (ESL) to intermediate level, adult and young adult learners. The pedagogic approach is functional/notional, aiming at meeting the communicative needs of the learner. It teaches both linguistic rules (grammar, phonology, etc.) and the sociolinguistic rules (appropriateness, level of formality, etc.)
