Language, Gender and Society documents the numerous strides taken since 1975 in gender-related sociolinguistics. A follow-up to the ever-popular Language and Sex, it employs the same successful format as the earlier volume, and takes the reader once again to the forefront of contemporary research in the field. The collection is divided into two sections: selected papers and an annotated bibliography. The first section opens with an overview of the field and its development, followed by nine milestone papers covering a wide range of methodologies and questions. The bibliography provides a comprehensive compilation of research and writing.
