It is a listening course with a difference. It aims to develop listening as an active skill and uses it as a trigger for a variety of classroom activities. The twelve listening texts on the tape consist of lively conversations or eye witness accounts. These form the basis for further action involving problem-solving, giving opinions and making judgments or decisions through discussion in groups and pairs, often in the form of role play. Thus students are required to re-use rather than merely repeat what they have heard. In addition to the topics for discussion, each unit in the book contains a reading dialogue: students complete one half of conversation, deducing what has been said from the reply.
